Amazing Race

9:00 CBS- it's back to Amazing Race 9 first episode....lasts until 11:00- yikes- I have to get up early!! First impressions combined with life lessons. Fran and Berry: can't find the necessary box to obtain their clue, which was before them all along- Life lesson: don't rush so much that you miss the important things right before you. Michelle and Lake: harsh with one another- my guess won't make it too long in the race. Life lesson: Be encouraging not discouraging- relationships will win in the end. The pink girls- suprising me in many ways...they are pretty intelligent and are not distracted by their fellow boy teammates, trying to gain their attention. Life lesson: stay focused on the goal. And who can forget the main man of all 9 seasons- our host Phil- who looks like he's buffed up. Life lesson...hmmm....stay fit. Ha, ha :

Can you name this hat?

Yesterday I went shopping with my Grandma. We were in pursuit of a new coat for her; however, I feel bad for people who may just be moving to Ohio from a Caribbean country because there are no more winter coats!! However, like the women that we are, we continued browsing the store and my eyes fell upon this pretty pink hat. I tried it on and my Grandma really liked it and another costumer-bless her heart- gave her stamp of approval as well. So since this hat was already on sale and the sign said to take an additional 70% off it was a winner. However, as I was telling of my great purchase the question came about...What is the name of this hat? Drum roll please.... Bucket cap. Mine is technically called: reversed crushed bucket cap- there is your hat education for the day!

polar opposites

Have you ever been around people who don't get along because they are too much alike? Or on the other hand when two people get together and you think- they are polar opposites? Let me give you an example: Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broadrick. Now I have to say- I don't know anything about them, so this really is a poor example, but looking at them I would never picture them together. Feel free to comment if you know anything about them. I have to say, "yeah" because they are actually still married and in Hollywood that is a feat.

But then I was thinking about magnets- that when you do have the two positives together- man do they repel like crazy. OK- so we flip them to both negatives and again- wow do they repel like crazy. But then line them up with negative and positive and bam- they're together. I was thinking about that with our relationship to God. If we view ourselves the same as Him- if we exalt ourself i.e. pride- we're going to repel away from Him. But then I think of this verse in Isaiah, when Isaiah sees God face to face and he exclaims- woe is me, for I am a man of unclean lips and I live among a people of unclean lips. He sees his need for God and bam- an angel of the Lord brings a burning coal and brings it to his lips and says your iniquity is taken away and your sin forgiven (they're now in relationship)- Then the voice of the Lord says, "Who shall we send and who will go for Us? And Isaiah says, "Here I am. Send me!" Polar opposites, such a strong magnet that cannot be broke apart. Praise God for His strong attraction in our lives- even though we might flip around, He never does.

Figure skating

Last night, taking it easy on my couch (refer to the previous posting) my eyes were glued to the pairs of figure skating. My roommate and I talked about how we love the pair skating. Thinking about how many hours they have practiced those routines is mind boggling. Even as they competed I thought of how many times these pairs must have fallen. However one would not know that from watching them glide so faultlessly over the ice. The first Chinese pair skated with beauty- I agreed with the commentator stating, "They deserve their own personal medal." They skated with their heart- their flips were beautiful and with such great height. Then the Russians came on, the ones that won the gold. The commentator had mentioned that in October 2004, Totmianina (the woman) suffered a concussion following a head-first fall during a lift by Marinin at the Skate America grand prix. During the event, Marinin did appear cautious during the lift; however, I loved the trust that Totmianina and these other woman showed to their partners- they allowed them to pick them up with the chance that they might fall. Then came the last competitors from China and near the beginning of their performance, the Chinese woman fell hard on her knees. Her partner came and wrapped his arms around her waist, just being with her to comfort her. After the trainers checked out her knee and she regrouped, she performed amazingly well. So well in fact that the achieved a silver medal! As I watched these couples, I told Jesus that I wanted to skate with Him in life. I want to be in synchrony with Him, as he initiates my moves and I follow; trust Him as He picks me up and if I fall He wraps His arms around me and gives me the motivation to perform and achieve medal status. Here we go again= when we say Jesus is our all in all I guess that includes an ice skater. Did they have those in Jerusalem?

Verses

"And you said, 'Behold, the LORD our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire; we have seen today that God speaks with man, yet He lives." Deuteronomy 5:24

"In the wilderness He fed you manna which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do good for you in the end." Deuteronomy 8:16.
