Tribute to Katie Couric

I'm watching the last day with Katie Couric on the Today show. Until my roommate moved in, I was an avid Good Morning America watcher and then was converted to watching the Today show. Now I really enjoy it and have been hooked; however, with Katie leaving I don't think it will be the same. Things that I enjoy about Katie: her humor, her spunk, her positive attitude- even when the camera began rolling this morning she was laughing, her endeavoring spirit- I guess when she was on CNN and after being live on the camera, she was told she would never be on TV again- she said, I wasn't going to let those turkey get me down. I like that spunk and positive perserverance. Plus, who can believe she's 49 years old! I hope I look like that at 49. Farewell Katie- we'll miss you!

circumstances

Roots extend

When the LORD says rejoice always- for it is your safeguard, I can see that. I have to extend my roots in His goodness- for if we as a human race were to let circumstances rule our lives we wouldn't be able to rejoice always. As I have heard lately of a couple of women being diagnosed with breast cancer, as I think of those that have lost loved ones to a car crash- those are sooo hard circumstances. As I think of Christ, bearing the burden of the world's sin....blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD.

How good is your eyesight?

So, you may not be able to read this image. I got this wonderful idea from a friend of mine to use dry erase markers on mirrors. You know it is a wonderful idea- it can be so versatile- just erase and change, pick what color you want, okay on with my story. So, Jeremiah 17:7-8 has been on my mirror and I'm so glad this is the verse I look at in the mirror. What a week! I'm saddened how often I forget 1)what the LORD has taught me 2)who He has made me to be. I'm thankful that He is faithful when I am not- that He is the giver of every good and perfect gift- that it is His power that I can rest assured can change my life. God is good and I do need Him. So may I not forget what I see in the mirror, because blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD :)

Belly-achin' laugh

There's nothing quite like a belly-achin' laugh, seriously. I feel like this past week I have done more laughing than I have in quite awhile. Randomly I went out to eat with my roommate and my friend and coworker who will remain nameless for the upcoming story. So my friend tells of this story that happened at school that day. One of the little boys she sees is in a wheelchair and supposedly when he gets mad, he rocks his wheelchair which in turn releases his brakes, resulting in safety concerns. So, the wheelchair vendor came. Needless to say the things which normally make this little boy mad, did not happen this date. So, nameless girl and wheelchair vendor start- taking his walker away from him walking down the hall in attempt to make him mad; telling him he can't ride the bus; and this poor little guy starts to cry and never does get mad; then even more sad- it's his birthday. So in hearing this story- I'm stating this is horrible as I laugh so hard, so much so that my belly ached and I almost started to cry. The nameless girl said- she was doing this all out of the safety of the little boy- they were on a time crunch- it was about time to go home and worse yet there were parents coming to pick up their kids. More belly laughter erupts.
Disclaimer- the nameless girl is really caring- so that softens the story :)

Evening of fellowship

Last night was so enjoyable. I'm thankful to the Lord that He's blessed me with a home where I can entertain and host people for dinner and fellowship. My dear friend Julie came to speak to these women about her ministry with Campus Crusade for Christ at the University of Michigan- to which I respond they need Jesus too- the avid Buckeye fan that I am! There were seven of us women and we enjoyed some tacos, melon salsa and dessert. There was such a sweet spirit there as the women told of their own personal stories of how they came to be in relationship with Jesus. One story totally cracked me up....one of the ladies husband will respond, "Bless ya Lord, bless ya Lord" during our church services. Listening to this man's response another woman kept thinking- why is this man saying, "Betcha Bob, betcha bob." Finally the lady couldn't take it anymore and asked why does he say betcha, bob, betcha bob and she found out that he was truly saying, "Bless ya Lord," oh, my oh my did I laugh hard on that one. How fun it is to truly enjoy one another's company.

Dandelions anyone?

Saturday mornings!

I love Saturday mornings- I love that I can sleep in and that it seem that my body is so much more refreshed by getting to sleep in a couple extra hours. No caffeine needed today! Good morning to you and happy Saturday!

Smile

God makes me smile :) On Sunday- my heart rejoiced seeing a young man who had stopped coming to church, as he was there. It was fun to sit back and watch people greet him warmly as I thought- "this is the body of Christ".

Last night- I was talking to my neighbor- talking about mowers, grass, our neighborhood. Then I felt like the Holy Spirit wanted me to talk to him and I adamently said, "no". I wish I didn't let fear and my "nos" rule. I want to stay in relationship with God- and tell him what I'm going through instead of that short two word- no. So, as I began conversation with him- he said- you haven't had too many parties lately. Then he said- so do you go to church? Oh my goodness! He started the conversation. God amazes me- He humbles me with His kindness and His grace towards me when I say no- may I say yes.
